  • Standing on our Stories

A new book from the Iona Community narrated by Susan Dale. This book of personal stories with the occasional poem and prayer tells of extraordinary actions from ordinary folk as they campaign, offer hospitality and stand alongside those on the margins of society. (I contributed some poems and writing.) Get it from Ionabooks.com

BTWBeyond these walls.  A book of poetry, talks and sermons by Stuart Elliott whilst in the parishes of Llanasa and Ffynnongroyw.

R.S. Thomas wrote in his poem ‘The empty Church’:

“They laid this stone trap for him… He will not come and more to our lure.’

Looking back over these various writings there is an undercurrent running through them which is a calling to go outside and to search for God in friend and stranger, in community and nature.

Stuart is inspired by going outside, by being in community and by exploring how the natural world can speak the Gospel message to us.  Stuart is also a member of the Iona Community, whose claim that ‘prayer and politics’, ‘peace and justice’, ‘sacred and secular’ should not be separate drives his passion for a life made whole.
